ChatGPT Isn't Meant to Give the RIGHT and ONLY Answer

Many have a fundamental misunderstanding of this and ultimately of why it's valuable.

Yesterday, I published a video showing how I created a prompt that gave ChatGPT information about my product and asked it to generate a Facebook ads strategy that consisted of optimization, targeting, copy, and more.

ChatGPT did not disappoint. It did exactly that.

But much of the response I received to that video was in reaction to the quality of the advice ChatGPT gave me. They didn't like the targeting or format or copy.

Others asked me if this strategy worked better than my current strategies.

I understand this feedback. Reasonable responses and questions. But they miss the point.

ChatGPT (specifically) and AI (generally) aren't meant to give the RIGHT and ONLY answer. It's not a cheat code to spit out a strategy that is going to be insanely profitable.

Sometimes, the advice is very generic, basic, and even wrong.

Guess what? One reason for that is that we need to further refine it and educate it with counter prompts. Give it more details about the voice or style of the copy. If we don't like the targeting, tell it why and see what new advice it gives.

ChatGPT gave me an insanely good starting point for a campaign. And if you were to run with it, you might have done well. But again, that's not the point.

There are a million and one uses for AI. Some use cases do help automate things. But it's not meant to automate your strategy (or at least the way I've used it so far). It's a helpful tool for ideation and brainstorming and generating a structure when you need a place to start.

I'm still learning, but this is one of the big realizations that I had as I researched this technology. This initial misunderstanding is likely sourced in a general fear, skepticism, and even hope that it can't do what people say it can.

But this technology is coming at us, and it's coming fast. You can be a skeptic. You can resist. But it will run you over.
