How ChatGPT Wrote a Movie

This is how ChatGPT wrote a 60-second movie.

First, I started with this prompt:

"Please generate a video script for a 60 second scene. Two friends are talking. One is a marketer who has been writing and creating videos about how to use ChatGPT. The other is also a marketer but a skeptic that ChatGPT has any value. This friend is brash and he starts the conversation by talking about how overrated ChatGPT is."

While the initial effort wasn't bad, I wasn't satisfied. I'd counter prompt 15 more times.

One thing I learned is that ChatGPT is not a comedy writer. I tried everything. Asked it to tell jokes, told it to write in the style of Old School and The Office, and had it base the characters on Joey from Friends and George from Seinfeld. Nothing worked. The jokes weren't funny.

But once I had it write in the style of The Godfather, suddenly something clicked. And then I told it that it was a Hollywood writer writing a blockbuster thriller. We had a movie.

ChatGPT wrote the title, script, "knowing nod," and voiceover at the end. Basically everything.

Except for the acting. That terrible acting was all me. ChatGPT can't fix bad acting.

This was a really good experience to learn about the potential of this tool. I may not write another movie anytime soon, but it gave me a better sense of how to be a good prompt engineer.
