Stop Winging It

This is a message for entrepreneurs, but it's as much a message for myself.

It's really easy to wing it. You have a million unrelated projects and tasks all floating out there. You tackle those that require your attention most, constantly putting out fires.

Stop doing that.

What I love about this time of the year is that it allows me to take a step back and look at my current processes (not currently great) and put together a new plan.

If you're winging it, it's really tough to sustain. It's easy to get burned out because you're constantly reacting. I know, I do it.

But, I also typically start the year with a much cleaner weekly schedule. It's just really easy to clutter itself as the year goes. Priorities and projects change, and that original plan is partly out the window,

I highly advise you have a plan that is as focused and specialized as possible. Instead of attacking a little bit of a high-priority project every day, try to set aside a single day every week to attack it. A blogging day. A video production day. A meetings day. A podcasting day.

While it's not likely you'll be able to completely isolate all of your efforts for that priority on that day, you'll be more efficient and focused. Less distracted and scattered.

It also forces you to sit down and understand what specifically you want to get done each week and how much time the individual tasks should take.

Are you doing something similar?
